ProCool for commercial enterprises

Participation in ProCool

It is widely known that refrigeration accounts for nearly half of the electrical power consumption in the food trade. This also involves significant costs.

Purchasing energy-efficient refrigerator and freezer systems allows for a reduction in power consumption of at least 20%. In the case of open units, supplementary measures (e.g. covering them at night) can even cut costs in half.

ProCool offers you an opportunity to participate in the design of efficient refrigerator and freezer equipment in the context of a European manufacturers’ contest. This ensures that the products developed under ProCool will comply with the latest market trends.

As a ProCool project partner, you will have the following advantages:

  • You will be involved in defining the product criteria for the appliances to be developed.
  • ProCool offers a platform which will allow you to present yourself as a commercial enterprise that supports the development and market launch of energy-efficient, HFC-free industrial refrigerator and freezer equipment.
  • You will receive information on the current developments in European and national directives for industrial refrigerator and freezer equipment (HFC, WEEE, Eco-design). Starting in 2007, for example, Austrian legislation will require refrigerator and freezer equipment to be HFC-free. Absence of HFC is therefore a criterion in the contest as well.

Besides participating in the determination of the criteria for the competition, you can also support the project by purchasing the equipment produced as a result of the contest.

ProCool Partners

The ProCool-Project is supported by international companies of the beverage and food industry and trade. Coca Cola, REWE and Globus have signed an agreement and thereby commit themselves to support efficient products developed in the ProCool competition.
